At West Union Bank, we know that West Virginia communities are built on hard work, sacrifice, kindness and charity. That is why we’re introducing the Community Values Recognition Program. Nominate someone you know who makes our neighborhoods, cities and counties great places to work, play, learn and live. Winners receive a $500 US Savings Bond. Nomination applications for the West Union Bank Community Values Recognition Program are available at these West Union Bank Branch locations:

Nomination applications are accepted year-round at West Union Branches in West Union , Pennsboro, Salem and Harrisville.
Here are the 2008 program dates:
Applications reviewed during the weeks of:
• May 19
• Aug 18
• Nov 17
Winners will be announced in local newspaper and radio the weeks of:
• June 2
• Sept 1
• Dec 1
Acts/behavior that demonstrate Community Values include, but are not limited to:
• Volunteerism
• Heroism
• Selflessness
• Generosity
• Kindness
Awards/Recognition
Winners of the West Union Bank Community Values Program will be awarded a US Savings Bond in the amount of $500 by West Union Bank. (US Savings Bond Rules Apply.) They will also have their story told in local radio spots and have their picture and information printed in the local community newspapers during the weeks noted above.
Who are the judges?
A committee of 10 to 12 individuals will comprise the selection committee. Employees of the West Union Bank, community members and volunteers selected by the bank will serve on this committee as volunteers for 12 months. The decision of this committee is final. Criteria considered will include but is not limited to:
• Level of personal sacrifice (What did this individual forfeit for the contribution?)
• Impact of contribution (How many people will the contribution impact?)
• Longevity of contribution (Has this person made this contribution for a significant length of time?
•Will what they have contributed be of benefit for a significant length of time?)
• Impact of example (How many people witnessed this contribution and what impact did this action have upon them personally?

Who is Eligible?
Eligibility
• Any persons, age 18 years or older, residing in the counties of Doddridge, Ritchie and Harrison Counties may be nominated for acts or efforts that demonstrate community values in the previous 12 months.
• Nominations will remain on file for 12 months from the date of submission.
• Any person, age 18 years or older, who resides within these counties may submit the application or it may be submitted by the individual.
• Application must be completed, dated and submitted prior to one of the review dates provided above.
• Employees of West Union Bank are not eligible to participate in the nomination process.
• The award cannot be given to an individual more than once.
• Applications can be dropped off at West Union Bank Branches and drive thru windows in West Union , Pennsboro, Salem and Harrisville.

| West Union Bank is pleased to announce the first winner of the Community Values Recognition Program. Salem resident Mike Davis received a glowing nomination from Carolyn Ford, also from Salem . Mike is owner of 3 Bears Balloons, a bus driver and employee of Salem IGA. But two full-time jobs, a business and fatherhood is just the beginning of Mike’s contribution to the community.
