Prime Interest Checking (PIC) Accounts

West Union Bank’s premium money market account is the Prime Interest Checking (PIC) Account, a tiered account that pays more interest for higher minimum balances.

  • Interest will be compounded and credited to your account every month.
  • $1,000 minimum deposit is required to open a Prime Interest Checking Account.
  • You can write six checks from the account without penalty per month, meaning you can access your interest-bearing funds without making a trip to the bank.
  • A service charge fee of $5 per transaction will be charged for each withdrawal in excess of the above listed six, during a statement cycle. If the limit restriction is violated more than twice, the account must be closed and reopened as a regular Checking Account.

Certificates of Deposit (CD)

West Union Bank offers a variety of Certificates of Deposit Accounts (CDs) for your savings needs.

Whether you prefer a short-term CD for a quick return or a more substantial savings for the future, we offer a CD for your lifestyle.

  • Term Lengths are available from 90 days to 60 months (5 years).
  • Interest for CDs will be compounded every month, with the exception of CDs with terms of less than one year. (Those will pay interest at maturity.)
  • You must deposit $500 to open a West Union Bank CD and to obtain the stated annual percentage yield (APY).
  • You may not make any deposits into your CD before maturity.
  • You may make withdrawals of principal from your CD before maturity only if we agree at the time you request the withdrawal. A penalty may be assessed.
  • Once per term, you can withdraw the interest earned in that term without penalty.
  • The annual percentage yield assumes interest will remain on deposit until maturity. A withdrawal will reduce earnings.
  • West Union Bank CDs automatically renew at maturity. You may prevent renewal if you withdraw the funds in the account at maturity (or within the 10-day grace period) or if we receive notice from you within the 10-day grace period. If you prevent renewal, interest will not accrue after final maturity.
  • CDs will automatically renew at the same rate being offered for new time deposits that have the same term.
  • Fees may reduce earnings on the account.
  • You can request a CD statement, but it must be combined with a statement from another account type.

Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA)

  • We offer three types of IRAs, including: Variable IRAs, Fixed IRAs, and Fixed Coverdell IRAs.
  • For Variable IRAs, Term Lengths are available from 30 to 48 months. For Fixed IRAs, the Term Lengths are 24 to 60 months. The Fixed Coverdell IRA is only available with a 60 month term.
  • In the case of Variable IRAs, the interest rates may change after the account is opened.
  • A minimum opening balance of $100 applies to all IRAs.
  • IRAs will automatically renew at the end of the term.

Safe Deposit Boxes & Safekeeping Boxes

  • Costs vary based on the size of the Safe Deposit Box, ranging from $10-$40. Rent for a Safe Deposit Box is due at the time of renting and will come due on the anniversary of the rental date annually. Annual cost does not reflect applicable sales tax.
  • Partial rents are not accepted or refunded.
  • The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) does not insure the contents of Safe Deposit Boxes. West Union Bank has no knowledge of the contents or value of items in your Safe Deposit Box.
  • Safe Deposit Boxes are not considered deposits or guaranteed by the bank and are subject to risks including the loss of principal.
  • Safekeeping Boxes are offered in our Harrisville branch instead of Safe Deposit Boxes and are different from Safe Deposit Boxes in that there is no second key. West Union Bank will not be in possession of a pass key for the box.
